Job Title: Licensed Mental Health Professional Exemption Status/Test: Exempt

Primary Purpose:
Increase access to resources for both students and parents with a focus on those who are at risk and/or in
crisis due to grief, loss, trauma, or loss of household stability. Serve campuses as the initial point of contact
and referral for students and families in need and link them to needed resources that will stabilize their
lives, meet their social emotional needs, enhance learning, and ensure that they thrive academically.
Coordinate district and campus wide programs to address social and emotional learning, trauma-informed
practices, and mental health needs to ensure aligned and coherent program implementation to foster a safe
learning environment. Participate in campus safety evaluation and planning teams, assist with the threat
assessment process, collection and analysis of campus data obtained from these processes as well as
individual student data to inform campus and district level intervention and improvement plans.
Participate in and provide necessary training to campus staff, parents and community partners as identified
in campus safety plan and campus improvement plans.

 

Qualifications:
Education/Certification:
Master’s or Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university
Valid Texas Licensed Master Social Worker or Licensed Bachelor Social Worker or Licensed
Professional Counselor

 

Special Knowledge/Skills:
Knowledge of evidence-based school safety measures and campus safety assessment process.
Knowledge of initial risk and threat assessment process.
Knowledge of social and emotional learning and trauma-responsive practices.
Excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills
Ability to instruct students and manage behavior.
Ability to present information in one-on-one, small group, and large group situations to students,
parents, and district staff.

 

Experience:
Two years social work experience, or relevant experience in the k-12 education system

 

Major Responsibilities and Duties:
Counseling
? Plan and conduct structured group lessons, based on specific individual and campus needs and in
accordance with students’ developmental and social emotional needs. Collaborate with teacher who
teach guidance-related curriculum.
Consultation
? Coordinate school, home, and community resources and refer students, parents, and others to
special programs and services as needed.
? Work collaboratively to advocate for individual students and specific groups of students.
Program Management and Administration
? Plan, implement, evaluate, and promote continuous improvement of a balanced comprehensive
intervention and counseling program that include emotional learning curriculum, responsive
services, individual planning, and system support components.
? Advocate for school environment that acknowledges and respects diversity.
? Compile, maintain, and file all reports, records, and other documents.
? Comply with policies established by federal and stat law, the STOP grant project, and local board
policy.
? Comply with all district and campus routines and regulations.
? Adhere to legal, ethical, and professional standards for licensure, including current professional
standards of competence and practices.
